Andrew Perrone grew up in Bryan, Texas, as the oldest of three children. Following in the footsteps of his parents, he attended Texas A&M University, where he earned a degree in Economics. During his time at Texas A&M, Andrew sang and toured with the renowned Singing Cadets and helped organize a foreign policy lecture series featuring distinguished speakers from around the world.
After graduation, Andrew began his professional career as a financial analyst with American Airlines. Although he enjoyed the challenges of the corporate world, he gradually discovered a growing fascination with physics, sparked in part by reading Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time. This newfound passion led him to make a significant career change and return to school at The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics.
While studying physics, Andrew discovered an equally strong passion for teaching. He completed a teacher certification program at UT Austin and, in 2010, joined the faculty of Vandegrift High School as part of the school's inaugural staff. Over the next thirteen years, he taught a wide range of physics courses, from introductory classes to advanced levels, and later expanded into engineering education.
In 2023, Andrew took a two-year detour from the classroom to serve as Training Manager for a semiconductor manufacturing company in Austin, where he developed and led technical training programs for employees. In 2025, he returned to Vandegrift High School and was excited to take on a new challenge by teaching Architectural Design, a subject that combines creativity, problem-solving, engineering, and technology.
The 2026–27 school year marks Andrew's 15th year in education. He remains passionate about helping students develop critical thinking skills, explore how the world works, and discover new interests that may shape their future careers—just as physics once changed his own path.
